Introduction
The objective of the Village Design Statement is to describe Tealby as it
is in 2003, as seen by the residents. It aims to identify the qualities
that are valued and the character that should be preserved.
A questionnaire was sent to everyone in the village to ensure that the widest
possible range of opinions, ideas, and local knowledge was available to
the team compiling the VDS. (Appendix 1). |

The village was also carefully surveyed on foot by small groups who noted
and photographed what they saw. The VDS was then compiled by a working
party of residents, with contributions and help from several others.
Gradual change is essential if Tealby is to thrive, and its buildings,
present or future, are to suit the changing needs of its residents.
Who is it for?
Change takes place, not only through large developments, but also by small
alterations to homes, gardens, open spaces, paths and boundaries. These
can and do alter the feel of the Village. The VDS is therefore addressed
to:
•Statutory bodies and public authorities
• Planners, developers, builders, architects and designers
• Local community groups
•Landowners, householders and businesses
How will the Village Design Statement work?
The VDS has been adopted by West Lindsey District Council as
Supplementary Planning Guidance, and its recommendations will be taken
into account when planning applications are being considered.
We anticipate it will assist the Tealby Parish
Council in commenting on planning applications to WLDC, and residents
when submitting their applications for changes to houses and gardens.
