Four roads serve Tealby, the main one being the B1203, named Rasen Road
and Papermill Lane. The other three come in from Caistor, Walesby and
North Willingham. We have a problem of speeding despite the 30 m.p.h.
signs.
There is no public car park so parking is limited, leading to some congestion
especially in Front Street, Cow Lane, and Caistor Lane.
Several footpaths intersect the village. The main one meets and follows
Rasen Road for a while and is part of the Viking Way. It leaves the village
down Beck Hill and through Bayons Park.
The roads and some of the footpaths are asphalt there being no pavement
stones, except in Springfields. The footpath on the north side of Rasen
Road is narrow and edged with a grass verge. Pavements are present in
Front Street, Cow Lane, Caistor Lane, and for a short distance in Sandy
Lane. Kerbstones are a mixture of granite blocks (some cobble and some
brick sized) but other sections make use of preformed concrete.
The River Rase is crossed by four footbridges. There are three fords,
but one is not normally passable by cars.
Open Spaces.
There are five large open spaces in the main part of the village: the
Village Green by the Hall, the small field opposite the school used as
the school sports field, the field behind the school, Howsham’s
Field in the centre used for grazing cattle, and the gardens around the
Kingsway/Sandy Lane Junction.

| Recommendations.
The eight open areas identified are key facets of Tealby’s character
and so there should be no new housing on these.
The redevelopment of existing traditional farm buildings using stone
and pantile materials should be encouraged.
Where granite kerbs need repair this should not be done with concrete.
There should be no extension of preformed concrete kerbs within the built-up
area of the village.
Passing places should be provided in Caistor Lane and Sandy Lane. |
