...and take-away!
For its relatively small size, the area boasts a fantastic variety of places to eat and drink.
The thatched Kings Head at Tealby is said to date from 1367 and is certainly the oldest pub in Lincolnshire. Many have enviable reputations for food thanks partly to plentiful local produce and specialities. Look out for the real ales of local brewer Tom Wood.
Speciality cuisine includes Italian and Indian. Tea shops and take-aways also abound and it's just half an hour from England's biggest fish market. That probably accounts for the quality and the fact that there are 3 fish and chip shops in Rasen, one with a restaurant.
Visitors will want to try local specialities such as stuffed chine, haselet, game pasties, "Poacher" cheese and plum bread - look out for the "Taste of Lincolnshire" logo - but it would take a week to compare the Lincolnshire Sausages from the areas many butchers! |
