Gateways and Town Centre Environmental Enhancements

£817,000 is being spent on environmental work in Market Rasen. By far the largest part will be on streetscape improvements (new paving, street lighting, street furniture, toilets etc) and 9 specific projects like the Church Mill basin proposal opposite. Residents' views are extremely important during the crucial planning stage in 2002.

One of the nine (E) will link the attractive waterside environment through Church Walk to the Market Place and include improvements to the grounds of St Thomas's Church.

Have your say on Rasen's future.

Enhancement Grants worth £200,000 are available to property owners or their representatives. Buildings in the streets marked in yellow will be given priority.

Applications passed to date include the new shop front of the Chinese take-away in King Street, the reinstating of railings and rebuilding of boundary walls at a house in John Street, and grants to both the Market Rasen Methodist Church and the Heritage Centre at West Rasen. (See "Grant Schemes" for more information).

There are still properties, especially in Queen Street that the Trust would like to see renovated.

5 'gateways' with a significant impact to 'announce' the town are to be created on the main roads with a budget of £120,000. The artists commissioned will be consulting widely and involving the community at all stages.
